Shoaib Akhtar on Virat Kohli: Virat Kohli, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, has got a great performance in all the three formats of international cricket so far. In the fourth Test of the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, Kohli ended the wait for his 28th Test century with an innings of 186 runs and also scored his 75th century in the international format. Now former Pakistan veteran fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has advised Kohli to retire from T20 format.
Former veteran fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar said in a statement about Virat Kohli in a conversation with a sports website that being a cricketer, if you ask me, I would advise him to say goodbye to T20 format, so that he can play Test and ODI format. I could concentrate. His energy goes a lot in T20 because he is a very aggressive player. He wants to do better in this format as well and his record is also good, but at the age of 34, he will have to take a decision keeping his body in mind.
Akhtar further said that if Virat Kohli decides to leave T20, he can easily play for the next 6 to 8 years in which he will get a chance to play around 30 to 50 Test matches and can easily score 25 centuries during this period.
Virat Kohli needs a lot of work on his mental health and fitness
Shoaib Akhtar further said that Virat Kohli will have to work a lot in terms of mental health and fitness for this. Although he is a strong boy. It’s great that he is enjoying his game and focussing on completing 100 hundreds and he will be commended for that.
Apart from this, Akhtar said about the comparison of Virat Kohli and Babar Azam that it is all nonsense that who is the bigger player in Asia? neither. Such things are done only to attract attention.
