All England Championship 2023: The All England Championship is being played in England. In this tournament, India got a big blow on Wednesday. Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu was India’s biggest contender going into the tournament. But she is out of it now. Apart from this, the pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand has reached the quarterfinals.

Indian women’s doubles pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand stormed into the quarterfinals of the All England Badminton Championships with a resounding win but Lakshya Sen crashed out in men’s singles here on Thursday. Commonwealth Games bronze medalists Treesa and Gayatri continued their fine run to beat the pair of Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota 21-14 24-22 in a thrilling contest.

The Indian pair, who had reached the semi-finals last time around, will take on the Chinese pair of Li Wen Mei and Liu Xuan Xuan in the next round. Sen, who had made it to the final last time, looked out of touch at any point against Anders Antonsen of Denmark and went down 13-21, 15-21 in 52 minutes.

The Indian men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty also bowed out after losing 21-10, 17-21, 19-21 to World No. 10 Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang of China.

PV Sindhu out

Indian star PV Sindhu’s poor run of form continued at the All England Badminton as she crashed out in the first round after going down in straight games to China’s Zhang Yi Man. World No. 9 and two-time Olympic medalist Sindhu lost 17-21, 11-21 in a women’s singles match that lasted 39 minutes. This is the third time this year when Sindhu could not go beyond the first round.
