Gautam Gambhir Slams KL Rahul’s Critics: Indian batsman KL Rahul is struggling with his poor form these days. Although he scored an unbeaten 75 in the first ODI against Australia in Mumbai to win Team India a losing game, but he returned to the pavilion early in the second match. He had to face a lot of criticism for this, in such a situation, former Indian player Gautam Gambhir gave a befitting reply to the critics of KL Rahul.
Lucknow Super Giants mentor Gautam Gambhir was asked on ‘Sports Tak’ whether KL Rahul will be under pressure ahead of IPL due to criticisms? To this, Gambhir replied, “As far as KL Rahul is concerned, I do not think he will be under any kind of pressure. International cricket and IPL are different from each other. Even after scoring 1000 runs in IPL, if you don’t perform in international cricket then you will face criticism and this is international cricket for you.”
‘There is no comparison between IPL and international cricket’
Gambhir further said, “Ultimately only 15 players get a chance to play for India. At the same time, more than 150 players are selected in IPL. So, you should not compare international cricket and IPL. How has Rahul performed in IPL, he has 4-5 centuries in the tournament and you are talking about a player who has already scored 4-5 centuries.
‘Former players need spice to stay active’
Taking his point further, Gambhir said, “In the last season of IPL, Rahul scored a century against Mumbai. Some ex-players just need spice to stay active. So, you criticize people. According to me, the kind of player KL Rahul is, he will not be under any kind of pressure. You cannot win a tournament because of one player. 25 players sitting inside the dressing room help you win the tournament.”
