David Warner: Australia’s explosive batsman David Warner has got the captaincy of Delhi Capitals. After Rishabh Pant’s exit from IPL 2023, the Delhi franchise has entrusted this responsibility to Warner. David Warner’s long experience of IPL, his performance and his captaincy record have helped him to become the captain of Delhi Capitals.

This will be the second time for David Warner when he will take charge of the Delhi franchise. When he was part of the Delhi team between 2009 and 2013, he captained a few matches in IPL 2013. After this, in 2014, Sunrisers Hyderabad made him a part of their squad. He has made Sunrisers Hyderabad the IPL champion in 2016 under his captaincy.

David Warner is the fifth most successful captain in terms of winning IPL matches. He has captained in 69 matches and has won 35 matches. During this, his team has faced defeat in 32 matches and two matches are tied. As a captain in IPL, Warner’s bat has also done well. In these 69 matches, he scored 2840 runs at a batting average of 47.33 and a blazing strike rate of 142.28. During this, he also scored a century and 26 half-centuries.

Warner is the most successful foreign batsman in IPL
David Warner is playing IPL since 2009. That is, out of 15 of IPL, he has played 14 seasons. Here he has scored 5881 runs in 162 matches. He is the highest run-scorer overseas batsman in IPL. Overall he is the fourth lead scorer of IPL, only Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma are ahead of him. By the way, Warner is ahead of these top-3 IPL batters in terms of batting average and strike rate. Warner’s batting average in IPL is 42 and strike rate is 140.
