On the occasion of International Year of Millets, 107-year-old organic farmer Padma Shri Pappammal on March 18 blessed PM Modi at the Global Millets Conference. In 2021, Government of India honored Pappammal with the fourth highest civilian award of Padma Shri for her role in organic farming.
